Satan from Paradise Lost
by John Milton
I've tried hard (very, very hard) not to make this day's post about literary crushes, like Mr.Darcy, Atticus Finch or Rhett Butler.
So, I went looking for the most interesting male character I knew. And who better fits the bill than Milton's Satan (or more precisely, the Romantic reading of him): the original rebel, who served as a prototype for the badass Byronic hero.
And I love all the modern renditions of him: from Satan in Eoin Colfer's hilarious Wishlist to the magnetic Woland in The Master and Margarita to the devastatingly suave Lucifer Morningstar in the DC comic series, Lucifer.I mean how could Eve have possibly said no to this?

And you're sure that Satan is not a literary crush? :P
Both this post and the next (that one only for Granny Weatherwax though) were the ones I was going to write. So blank hi-five, because now I'll write something else!
@march hare
Er, now that you mention it...
@M
You can still write it. There's no rule against it, you know. :P
But blank hi-five to you too. :)
